Dear Ms. White,

I am an English teacher through and through, and I am confident that I would make an excellent addition to your teaching team at the British School because of my fondness for the school, my dedication to help students and my extensive teaching experiences.

I was a student at the British School myself and I have fond memories of my time there. I would like to contribute to making the experience of the present students as outstanding as mine was. I strive to do this by always putting the students first and acting in the best interest of the children, as I have been doing in teaching positions for the past 10 years. It has always been my personal mission to help and motivate students in a way that works for the individual student. I am passionate about helping students. Additionally, I am creative in finding new ways to get students involved in course work and I also strive to make all students feel comfortable in the classroom, since I am a strong believer that students perform better if they are comfortable in the classroom and are involved and excited about the discussed topics. This way of teaching matches the values of the British School well. At my previous school, this way of teaching resulted in satisfied students and in results which were 20% above the national average, which reflects well on the school.

I also find it important to engage the parents in the school experience. This is sometimes quite challenging, but I believe that involving the parents through effective communication is the best way to reach the full potential of the students. In addition, my communication skills are also useful within the school itself. I communicate well with students and teachers and I believe this is essential to provide the best possible education. In order to provide the best possible education, I find it important to keep evaluating and discussing the school policies and values with other teachers and the members of the board of the school. This is why at my previous school I have been a proud member of the participation council. I am open to take on the extra responsibility of becoming a council member at The British School if a position opens up, to help improve the educational system when necessary.

I have taught English at secondary schools in The Netherlands and England over the past years. I am internationally oriented, which matches the mission of the British School well. I have taught secondary-level students as well as elementary-level students. My teaching experience in different countries and in different age groups have taught me to work with students from different ethnical backgrounds, which is something that becomes more and more important considering that many different backgrounds are found within one school nowadays.

It is my goal to combine my teaching experience with my ability to be a committed, involved and enthusiastic teacher who will make a positive contribution to your school and your students.
